Calling all muddy-footed rascals, slug-botherers, fidgets, daydreamers and daredevils!
We currently run four Saturday Forest School clubs for people aged 4-16, which take place on alternate Saturdays during term time. You can see dates, times and prices here and register interest here.
The Saturday clubs are an opportunity for kids to be kids, run wild and free, learn life skills, connect to nature, form friendships and have everyday adventures. What shape those adventures take depends on what sparks the children’s imaginations.
Typical activities include: team games, sensory and imaginative play, green woodworking, bushcraft, nature exploration, making assault courses, mud kitchen, climbing, woodland conservation, natural crafts, and campfire cooking. From time to time, Mighty Oaks have a wild camp out.
Not-so-typical activities include: enjoying a feast of “everything that looks disgusting but tastes delicious!”, making ink from a burnt pie then doing calligraphy with it, mud-river races, sleeping up a tree in home-made bunk-bed, becoming a human-handbag-burrito, and 4am wheelbarrow rides whilst listening to the dawn chorus.
Basically, if the children can dream it up; if it’s legal and safe for man, beast and tree, then we will attempt it!
