“We have four students who attend Wheatfen Forest School AP weekly. All four thoroughly enjoy it and we have started to see a massive impact on some of them. During the weeks, we have noticed a dramatic change in the attitude of our students. They are communicating more openly with staff, listening more in lessons and have a more positive attitude and outlook on school.
One of the students was nearly at risk of permanent exclusion, always getting sent to our internal hub during lessons. However, since the course he has only now been sent once. This is incredible and we are so proud of him!
The feedback I receive gives amazing detail so I have a clear picture of what the students have been up to (including pictures) and sometimes the team picks up on things from the students that we have not which helps us support them more in mainstream.
Over all our students thrive going each week and we are very happy that we have been able to support this to continue moving forward.”
“Forest School has been the only provision some of these students have engaged with in years. It has given us lots to think about in terms of what therapeutic support looks like when working with young people/boys who are not ready to engage with mentoring/counselling/CAMHS or any of the conventional support we would usually try to put in place for them. For that reason, it is something I am very keen to expand upon and embed in our school practice.”
